I would recommend, with the caveat that only even-tempered people should use these on dogs. (Ok, only even-tempered people should _own_ dogs…) It is a very effective method of instant punishment, but punishment is only effective if coupled with praise and reward for good behavior.

That said, the product doesn’t use too much current and the vibrate feature is very humane. Buy a pair of rechargable AAA batteries, since the collar drains them any time the dog is wearing the collar (whether or not it has been discharged).

This collar is very weak. I even put brand new batteries in and it was still very weak, I could hold it against my hand and barely feel anything. It had no affect on any of my dogs and they are short haired medium size dogs. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Save the trouble and spend the extra money for a nicer collar.

This product would be great for smaller dogs, probably 25lbs or less. Anything more than that and the zap seems to be pretty much ineffective. This product has a great range and works well for keeping dogs’ attention. It is a great deal for the price.

I got this a few weeks ago, and it’s fantastic. it’s great for the price. The batteries that came with it didn’t last very long but using replacement rechargable batts it lasts a couple weeks. The instructions are silly but it they get the point across. The collar does loosen up a bit but that just means I make sure to check it every time I take him for a walk. The sound feature and light make little sense but coinsidently the power went out one of the 1st nights using it and it did come in handy. Using it was verfy effective. Within 15 minutes of the 1st session I hand my dog who was pulling on a leash and would dart off when any oppertunity pre4sented itself. To a dog who stays with me and almost ALWAYS comes when I call him(occosional reminder needed). I no longer need to keep him on a leash when I walk him. So, I take him out so much more because walking him is more enjoyable. So, this is a fine product and a fantastic price. If your looking for one on the cheap, go for it. PLEASE befor using it, read some articles and study up on the subject. This can be a fantistic tool for making your dog and your life better, if used properly.

I chose this collar because my dog is deaf and the vibrate offers the option to train the dog to come to me even though she can’t hear me. This dog is a “Blue Heeler” also called “Australian Cattle Dog”, was stubborn and just tried to do what ever she pleased knocking things off tables by jumping on them and throwing everything off intentionally. She even killed on of our birds. That’s when I decided to get the collar. She is 8 months old. I use the settings at 35 if she has few distractions and have had to put it as high as 60 in public to keep her off children. Within one week I now have a dog that walks right next to me. She no longer jumps in my face and scratches me. The biting has come to a complete stop. Our house is now peaceful and people ask me if I am a professional dog trainer. She is much calmer and a real member of the family now. The secret is to use the collar as directed. Do NOT abuse it. I recommend only calm natured people use this collar.

This product is ok and would be more beneficial to smaller dogs in my opinion.

One must be careful of the settings on smaller dogs also as it is to be used for obedience training and not abuse for your dog.

A better way of training a dog or any pet for that matter is dog training and obedience classes from a professional.

By taking the time to really learn how to train your dog properly you not only get a happy dog and family life but a healthier dog as well.
