I bike a lot and dogs are usually not a problem.. however once in a while a dog will run after me. And even in the presence of the owners. The problem is never really the dog it's the irresponsible owners.

Yes, It's really important to take care of whole dog behavior.

Don't expect something easy to do and such. They are animal after all. so owner has to train and whatever owner train the dog will capture.

I used to have to walk a 13 stone great dane called vedda, and he chased all dogs and even small children! the only think to do was wrap his lead around a lamp post and cower in the corner cause he would take you whether you liked it or not otherwise! such a huge dog! - bless, miss him!

I that yes, its all about disipline from a very early age. Sure as puppies they can play around - but once they're older you have to be strict. They'll love you for it eventually :)

The alternating of this behavior is problematic because I don't think a dog can make the distinction between chasing and running. I take my dog to the local dog beach and it's part of play.
